Saudi Arabia has a monumental $500 billion project expected to be completed in 2030 consisting of a 170km long, 200m wide city able to welcome 9 million people, in the Tabuk Province, Northwest Saudi Arabia.
The Line is one of the NEOM projects in the Saudi Vision 2030.‘The NEOM project aims to achieve exceptional liveability, thriving businesses and reinventing conservation’, stated the official project website.
The Line is an exclusive project that has the main benefits to promote health and well-being, as it reduces the time residents will spend commuting and the footprint impact on nature will be minimal since the city will occupy only 34 square kilometres and ensure the better future of urban living.
This project is very significant for the future of green energy since the aim of it is to preserve 95% of Neom’s surface and the project will be run on 100 per cent renewable energy.
Indeed, the project’s strategy is to transition from a fossil fuel economy to the use of emerging and clean technologies emphasising the importance of preserving the environment to welcome new businesses in the future.
This futuristic city will allow residents to have a life comparable to the ones they have in a normal city.In fact, they will have access to all facilities in the city within a five-minute walk, they will have access to parks near their habitations, schools, workplaces, and shops.
The easy mobility of residents is a very important part of the project, and people will be able to move in every part of the Line, above, below, or across.
Moreover, there will be a high-speed railway installed in the Line which hypothetically will be able to travel the length of the entire city in just 20 minutes.
