Coastr Chosen to Visit Silicon Valley

Scottish tech start-up Coastr, has been chosen as one of 20 companies to visit Silicon Valley as part of a Startup Grind initiative.

The online car-rental industry disruptor was chosen out of 178 early stage and high growth companies in Scotland to make the trip to the States, which is being funded by the Scottish Technology Ecosystem Fund.

The Scottish Government’s Technology Ecosystem Fund launched as a result of an independent review of the Scottish technology ecosystem in 2020, aimed at developing a world-class technology sector in Scotland.

Amongst the review’s recommendations were calls for investment into activities that assisted peer learning, networking and better connectivity to support Scottish entrepreneurs.

The week-long Californian excursion will allow Coastr and the other Scottish companies to connect with founders, investors and global tech firms based in Silicon Valley and San Francisco, including Alchemist Accelerator, User Testing and Nvidia.

Coastr, which recently closed off a £1.2m funding round with the help of Shadow Foundr, will also have the opportunity to pitch to a room of US investors.

The Scottish mobility company is aiming to revolutionise the vehicle rental market through digitisation, via its innovative AI and IoT (Telematics) enabled Vehicle Rental Management Software.
